I recently took out the new Skoda Enyaq out for a test drive and overall was very impressed with the car.  This is one of the first electric only models from Skoda. This continues our range of Electric cars that we have been taking out recently and one that is becoming a popular option for business leasing customers.

There are a range of models available, I took out the 60 Nav Loft which is the base model but it does comes with a few extra options. The 60 has a range of 256 miles and 333 miles for the 80 range of Enyaq’s.  The 80 models will do 0-60 in 8.5 seconds.  The top of the range is the Nav Sport Line which will comes with a different trim level.  The range of the models can make it quite confusing but they will refine them very soon.  The reason for having a base model is to offer a solution that is within the £35,000 government grant of £2,500.

What I like about the new Skoda Enyaq:

  • Affordable larger option for Electric Vehicles.
  • Modern design.
  • Upgraded 20” alloys & thicker road tyres which helps reduce road noise and ride comfort.
  • Very smooth car to drive.
  • Lane assist.
  • Plenty of room in the boot.
  • Electric tail lift.
  • Plenty of room in the back for passengers, leg room & head room.
  • Good build quality and it is comfortable to sit in.
  • Large central touch screen in the centre.
  • Dual control for front and rear air conditioning.
  • Heated steering wheel.
  • Wireless charging.
  • Good handling for a car of its size.

What I do not like about the new Skoda Enyaq:

  • Difficult to find how to control air conditioning.
  • Deceiving size.
  • The level 3 of the regeneration of braking can be a bit aggressive to anyone who is not used to regenerative braking.

A lot of enquiries that we receive from business customers are looking for a low benefit in kind tax rate which means that full electric cars are becoming a popular option due to the 1% (2021) or 2% (2022) BIK rates.

Once you get used to driving an Electric car you will prefer it over a normal petrol or diesel car.  The Skoda Enyaq is very smooth but still offers good enough performance for day to day driving.  It will not offer the same quick performance as a Tesla but will suit most drivers actual desires.

We have carried out comparisons for business company car owners with diesel vs electric cars and noticed savings of several hundreds of pounds per month.

Final thoughts:

A very smooth and well-built car for the money.  A great option for any business customers looking for a great electric car with business deals starting from £350+ which when you take in the reduced Benefit In Kind tax and the reduced costs of running the car you are able to get a very good electric car for less than a similar specification of diesel car.  The Skoda Enyaq would also be a great option on personal leasing as a family car as well as for business customers.

An excellent consideration for anyone considering an all-electric SUV.
